Azerbaijan's STP starts implementing new export program

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Sumgait Technologies Park (STP) has begun implementation of a new export program, STP PR Manager Rashad Aliyev told Trend.

Following the negotiations at the beginning of 2020, the STP agreed with a number of foreign companies to export its aluminum profiles and ingots, Aliyev said.

“Companies from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Estonia, Egypt and Turkey are among those we talk with. Currently, one part of orders by these companies has already been exported, and the other part is in progress,” he noted.

Speaking about current business ties and negotiations, Aliyev said that due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the imposed quarantine regime, the process of signing new agreements has slowed down, but negotiations and business relations are held online.

Commenting on plans to increase the production of cables and wires this year, Aliyev noted that the volume of Azerbaijan's international trade has decreased due to the uncertain situation caused by the pandemic.

“There is also stagnation in cable usage. Therefore, it is difficult to make any predictions about an increase in production this year,” added Aliyev.

STP, commissioned in December 2009, is a complex of big plants specializing in various fields of production.

It has 50 hectares of closed production area per 250 hectares of the company’s total area. It consists of 12 factories and over 30 production sites, which employ more than 2,000 workers.

STP products distinguished by high quality are supplied to the markets of Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, and are sold under the 'Made in Azerbaijan' brand.
