Georgia's Nadi Group reveals volumes of snails to export to Italy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18

Georgian Nadi Group plans to export 45 tons of snails to Italy in October 2020, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

In 2017, with the support of the state, Nadi Group farm for growing snails was built in the village of Akhali Khibula of Khobi municipality of Georgia, within the framework of the United Agricultural Project. An investment of 1.41 million lari ($461,515) was made for the construction of the farm, of which 1.26 million lari ($412,418) was obtained through preferential agricultural loans.

According to one of the founders of the Nadi Group, Merab Nadaraia, after the group opened a snail farm, interest in this business area increased.

The farm produces an average of about 50 tons of snails per year and sells the products in foreign markets, mainly in Italy. It is planned to enter the local market in the future.

The company employs 10 local residents.

Georgian Nadi Group also intends to facilitate developing heliciculture in the village Akhali Khibula of Samegrelo-Zemo Svanetis region of Georgia.
