As many as 528 container ships docked at the Shahid Rajaee port of Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020), Chairman of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran’s (PMO) branch in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the organization.
The chairman noted that this is an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
He added that during this period, 482,000 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Rajaee port.
Mohammadi emphasized that the process of docking ships to the Shahid Rajaee port may lead to a positive change in the loading and unloading of container cargoes.
Shahid Rajaee port is considered to be the most important container port in Iran. The port has 12 container platforms.
A total of 4.69 million tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020).
In total, 5.45 million tons of cargo was loaded and 4.2 million tons was unloaded through Iranian ports.
