BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29

By Eldar Janashvili - Trend:

The number of labor contracts in Azerbaijan increased by 107,300 units in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2020, compared to the beginning of the year, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy.

"As of July 1, 2020, the number of employment contracts surpassed 1.6 million contracts. In a private non-oil sector of the country, this indicator rose by 109,900 contracts, to 748,800 contracts," said the economy ministry.

"In June 2020, the growth in the number of employment contracts in the non-state non-oil sector amounted to 20,700 contracts. The overall growth in the number of labor contracts in the country since the beginning of this year was mainly thanks to the non-oil sector," the ministry said.

“If to look at the statistical picture that has developed after the transfer of social insurance savings to the tax authorities, it can be seen that this growth over the past year and a half has become more significant. For comparison, the growth in the number of employment contracts in the private non-oil sector as of January 1, 2019 was only 208,900 contracts,” noted the ministry.

In 1H2020, the number of concluded labor contracts in the private non-oil sector increased from 38.5 percent in 2018 to 45.1 percent, the ministry added.
