Georgia decreases export of mineral, fresh water

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30

From January through June 2020, mineral and fresh water worth $49.4 million was exported from Georgia, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

According to Geostat, this is 24.5 percent less than in the same period last year.

Russia was the largest export market for Georgian water with $19.3 million.

The top five importers of Georgian water include Ukraine ($9.5 million), Lithuania ($8.1 million), Kazakhstan ($3.7 million) and Belarus ($3.3 million). Meanwhile, a small amount of water from Georgia was exported to the United States ($1 million) and Israel ($538,000).

In 2019, mineral and fresh water worth $133.6 million was exported from Georgia to other countries, which is 17.6 percent more than in 2018.
