Volume of cargo loaded, unloaded in Iranian ports plunges

About 41.53 million tons of cargo has been loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to yesterday (July 29), Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran.

According to the report, the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo decreased by 27 percent compared to the same period last Iranian. During the same period of last Iranian year, 56.92 million tons were loaded and unloaded.

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Bandar Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 14.18 million tons of oil was loaded and unloaded. This is a decrease of 13.7 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (16.43 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 0.57 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 23.3 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 0.75 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 6.23 million tons, which is 31.1 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (9.04 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 5.6 million tons showing 23.1-percent decrease compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (7.29 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 14.22 million tons. This is a decrease of 36 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 22.53 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 1.1 million tons. This is 32.3 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (1.63 million tons).
