Iran Customs Administration reveals import volume

Iran Customs Administration spokesman announced that from the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) to the end of July, 8.8 million tons of basic goods worth $3.9 billion have been imported into the country.

“During the same period of the previous year, 8.8 million tons worth $5.746 million of basic goods were imported into the country,” Ruhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing Mehr news agency.

"In terms of value, the import of basic goods during the first four months of the current Iranian year declined by 30 percent,” he said adding that 3.5 million tons of basic goods have not been cleared from ports and customs warehouses.

Stating that there is no shortage of basic goods, the spokesman of Iran's customs provided detailed information about imported items.

According to him, 356 thousand tons of rice, 2 million tons of wheat, 11,777 tons of cold red meat, 3,458 tons of light red meat, 44 tons of chicken, 371,232 tons of soybean meal, 3.7 million tons of corn, 698,463 tons of barley, 127 tons of essential veterinary drugs, 24,864 tons of chemical fertilizers, 1,640 tons of technical chemical toxins, 541,414 tons of raw sugar, 252,126 tons of edible oils, 68,081 tons of beans, 575,571 tons of soybean and oil seeds, 20,598 tons of heavy rubber, 74,577 tons of printing paper, 2,206 tons of newspaper paper, 75,925 tons of pulp, 18,847 tons of dry tea, 51,423 tons of medicine and essential medical equipment, 4,644 tons of butter and 11,669 tons of equipment have been imported into the country during the reporting period.
