Large volume of sugar products imported to Turkmenistan

As many as 44.8 million kilograms of sugar for a total amount of $16.8 million were exported to Turkmenistan from Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries from January through May 2020, Trend reports, citing the Eurasian Economic Commission’s statistics.

The sugar was exported to Turkmenistan from such EAEU countries as Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.

According to statistics, the share of Belarus in the sugar's export volume was $1.5 million, the share of Kazakhstan is $252,836, of Russia - $15.1 million.

In addition to sugar, Kazakhstan and Russia exported to Turkmenistan 546,593 kilograms of sugar confectionery for a total amount of $790,311.

The share of Kazakhstan amounted to $43,467, and the share of Russia - to $746,843.

In addition, other types of sugar products, including chemically pure lactose, maltose, glucose and fructose, were also exported to Turkmenistan from the EAEU countries, namely from Russia, in the total amount of 820,166 kilograms, for a total of $310,777.

During the reporing period, Russia was also the only exporter from the EAEU countries to Turkmenistan of cocoa powder without sugar additives in the amount of 6,309 kilograms, for a total of $9,616.
