Export of fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan amounted to $328 million in the first six months of 2020, Head of the Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association Bashir Guliyev told Trend.
In his words, in 1H2020, there was a decrease in the volume of exports of locally produced apples due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the world.
"The decline in exports from Azerbaijan is not beneficial primarily for farmers, as they incur losses. This year we plan to start cooperation with new countries. The main foreign markets-importers of fruits and vegetables of Azerbaijani production are Russia and Belarus," Guliyev said.
The Azerbaijani Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association was established on September 16, 2016, to coordinate the activity of entrepreneurs engaged in the production and export of fruits and vegetables in the country, expand cooperation among them, increase the total production volume of fruits and vegetables and expand the country's export opportunities.
Currently, there are 60 members of the association.
To join the association, it is necessary to submit an official application in the appropriate form and fill out the registration form. Annual membership fees are paid after the approval of the application by the Board of the Association.
