Georgia opens new refrigeration facility for storing vegetables

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5

Modern refrigeration facility designed for the storage of 800 tons of vegetables opend in Bolnisi municipality (Kvemo Kartli region, Eastern Georgia), Trend reports referring to EastFruit portal.

The refrigeration facility is equipped by Gio agricultural cooperative within the framework of the state Unified Agricultural Project.

The total investment in the project amounted to 1.5 million lari ($489,000), including 510,000 lari ($166,000) as a state grant, and 500,000 lari ($163,000) provided as preferential agricultural loan .

Agricultural cooperative "Gio" was registered in 2016. Its main activity is the production of vegetables, including potatoes and onions. The cooperative sells its products on the local market.

From 2013 to the present day, with the support of the United Agricultural Project, 27 new enterprises were opened in the Kvemo Kartli region.

The goal of the Unified Agricultural Project is to promote competitiveness in agriculture, stable growth in the production of high-quality products, and the introduction of international food safety standards.
