More Kazakh companies obtain right to export to China

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 7

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Seventy-eight Kazakhstan’s flax producers and eight wheat flour producers were added to the list of ventures that have the right to export their goods to China, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Currently, in total, 103 Kazakh flax producers and eight wheat flour producers have the right to export their goods to China.

The ministry said that in the recent years, flax sowing has become very attractive among farmers in Kazakhstan. This crop is inexpensive and easy to produce, and flax seeds are priced much more expensive than wheat.

“Therefore, both production volumes and the number of agricultural producers engaged in flax sowing are growing in Kazakhstan. However, with intensive sowing of this crop, there are significant risks of rapid depletion of the cultivated soil,” the ministry said.

The ministry added that over the course of last couple of years, Kazakhstan has become the largest exporter of flax seeds and linseed oil as almost the entirety of annual crop is exported to a number of European and Asian countries.

China is also one of the largest importers of Kazakh flax.
