The buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) increased by 58 percent during the last week from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5, compared to the preceding week, Trend reports citing IME’s official portal.

According to the report, 572,700 tons of products worth more than 50 trillion rials (about $1.19 billion) were sold at IME.

“Last week, 264,100 tons of products worth 29.3 trillion rials (about $697 million) were sold in the industrial and mining products section,” the report said.

About 252,300 tons of steel, more than 7,000 tons of copper, 3,600 tons of aluminum, 120 tons of molybdenum concentrate, 12 tons of precious metal concentrate, 1,000 tons of zinc ingots and 8 kilograms of gold bars were sold in this section, the report added.

In addition, 308,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 21.4 trillion rials (about $509 million) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section.

According to the report, 51,200 tons of bitumen, 88,500 tons of vacuum bottom, 67,000 tons of polymer substances, 54,000 tons of lube cut, 35,700 tons of chemicals, 1,800 tons of oil, 50 tons of argon, 890 tons of glass facades, 8,900 tons of sulfur products were sold in this section.
