UK, Russia buy polypropylene in Turkmenistan

Entrepreneurs from Russia, the UK, the UAE, Turkey, and Afghanistan bough polypropylene, lighting kerosene and diesel fuel for foreign currency during an auction at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

During an auction, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene was bought by businessmen from Russia, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

In addition, businessmen from Russia and Kyrgyzstan bought cotton yarn for foreign currency.

The total amount of transactions in foreign currency exceeded $20 million.

Transactions in Turkmen manat were also made on the exchange. Thus, entrepreneurs of Canada purchased cotton yarn for the total amount of 244,800 manat ($69,942).

Turkmen entrepreneurs purchased high-density polyethylene, cotton fiber and hand-made carpets for the domestic market in local currency.

The total amount of transactions in the Turkmen manat exceeded 41,196 million manat ($11.770 million).

In general, 61 transactions were registered on the exchange over the past week.

Transactions in the total amount of more than $319.7 million were registered on the State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange of Turkmenistan in July.

The state commodity exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
