Second largest snail producer to appear in Georgia

With the financial support of the Bank of Georgia, a snail farm on an area of 1 hectare will be built in Abasha, a town in western Georgia, Trend reports referring to Georgian media.

As reported, the project is being implemented by Georgian Iceberg Ltd.

After the launch of the farm, it will be able to grow up to seven tons of snails per year, and the snails will be used both for medicinal and for gourmet purposes; they also will be exported to Italy.

Meanwhile, it will be the second largest snail producer in the country.

The snails have been cultivated for many years by the Nadi Group in the village of Akhali Khibula of Khobi municipality of Georgia, within the framework of the United Agricultural Project.

The farm produces an average of about 50 tons of snails per year and sells the products in foreign markets, mainly in Italy. It is planned to ibntruduce the product in the local market.
