Volume of dairy products imported to Georgia decreases

The volume of dairy products imported by Georgia decreased in July compared to previous months, Trend reports citing Georgian Georgiandairy.org portal.

The imports have been declining for three consecutive months, although for the first seven months, imports are still at an all-time high this year.

Imports of dairy products in July amounted to 10 million tons, which 29 percent less than during the same month last year and 56 percent less than the July's average indicator for the previous three years.

For seven months of 2020, the import of dairy products amounted to 94.3 million liters.

In the first seven months of 2020, imports of skim milk amounted to 46.9 million liters, which is 7 percent less compared to the same period of the last year and 14 percent less than the average for the previous three years.

The average price of imported dairy products in lari in July was similar to the last year prices; however, this is 22 percent higher than the average for the previous three-year period.
