Georgia's Herbia company plans to expand its operations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian herbs producing company Herbia plans to expand its operations, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

Herbia is a grower, packer, and shipper of certified culinary herbs and vegetables and doesn't use chemical fertilizers or insecticides.

Herbia's founder Zurab Janelidze noted that the company purchased an additional 15 hectares of territory near the greenhouse. According to him, as a result of expanding, the company can enlarge the assortment of herbs and vegetables.

In his words, from September, it is planned to increase the number of herbs types from 20 to 30.

Despite the coronavirus outbreak, the demand for herbs increased.

"Currently, 90 percent of products of Herbia are sold in the local market, and the remaining volume is exported to Bulgaria," Janelidze noted.

He added that after the production expands, the company will increase the list of exporting countries.

Herbia has created a greenhouse equipped with modern standards with the financial support of the state, where various varieties of herbs and vegetables are grown.
