Turkmenistan increases tomato exports to EAEU

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia imported 25,321 tons of tomatoes from Turkmenistan from January through May 2020, which is two times more than in the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The total amount of tomato imports was $28.3 million. Thus, the share of Kazakhstan in the total amount of imports was $7.5 million, Kyrgyzstan’s share was $3.1 million, while Russia’s share was $17.6 million.

Tomatoes cooked or canned without vinegar were also exported from Turkmenistan in the amount of 17 kilograms, for a total of $23.

The only Eurasian Economic Union's (EAEU) country that imported tomatoes cooked or canned without vinegar was Kazakhstan.

It addition to tomatoes, Turkmenistan exported 132 tons of cucumbers, in the amount of $129,717 to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia from January through May 2020.

The share of Kazakhstan in the import of cucumber was more than $105,000, the share of Kyrgyzstan was almost $23,000, and the share of Russia was $1,686.
