Iran talks about details of dairy products export

Iran exported 152,500 tons of milk and dairy products worth more than $153.7 million during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020), Spokesman for Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Latifi, Iranian milk and dairy products have been exported to 30 countries, including Canada, Germany, the UK, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, UAE, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, New Zealand and others.

Latifi added that at the same time, the majority of Iranian dairy products were exported to Iraq. Thus, more than $75.9 million worth of milk and dairy products were exported to this country.

The official emphasized that in addition, milk and dairy products worth more than $18.8 million were exported to Afghanistan and more than $13 million to Pakistan.

“The exported products were mainly cheese, cheese water, kashk, packaged butter, milk, sour cream, yogurt, buttermilk, milk powder,” he said.

Latifi noted that Iran's food industry sector has a special place in the export of non-oil products. Thus, this sector accounted for 14 percent of Iran's non-oil exports in the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019) and 15 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

Iran exported more than 30 million tons of non-oil products worth $8.71 billion during four months of this year. The top five main countries importing from Iran were China, Iraq, the UAE, Afghanistan and Turkey.

During the reporting period, Iran imported 12 million tons of products worth $10.9 billion, mainly from China, the UAE, Turkey, India and Germany.
