Volume of wheat purchased in Iran's Kurdistan Province revealed

More than 624,400 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in the Kurdistan Province (western Iran), since the beginning of the summer season in Iran (July 21) to date (August 11), said Jamal Salehi director general of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Kurdistan Province, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.

The director general said that the largest amount of wheat was purchased in Bijar county (177,000 tons), Qorveh county (125,000 tons) and Dehgolan county (116,000 tons).

Salehi emphasized that so far, 10.5 trillion rials (about $250 million) has been paid to farmers.

According to him, in addition to the consumption of Kurdistan Provine, 137,000 tons of wheat was sent to 10 provinces of Iran.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
