Batteries disposal venture may be launched in Kazakhstan's Nur-Sultan

Implementation of a ‘green’ project in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city is underway, a representative of Astana, The New City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) told Trend.

The official said that currently, two SEZs operate in Nur-Sultan city including Astana Technopolis and Astana, The New City.

For the most part, projects in the field of scientific research and information technology are being implemented on territory of Astana Technopolis.

In turn, the projects implemented at the Astana, The New City SEZ cover connstruction projects implemented citywide, and industrial projects implemented on territory of Industrial park #1, which is in the industrial part of the city.

“The majority of the city's manufacturing ventures is located there. Products manufactured by the ventures-participants of the SEZ are in demand not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. For example, dozens of diesel locomotives and electric locomotives produced in the Industrial Park No. 1 are operated on the railways of Azerbaijan, and about 30 more electric locomotives will be delivered in the near future,” the SEZ official said.

Talking somewhat “greener” projects currently being implemented at SEZ, the official said that Kazecotech company is currently carrying out implementation of the project.

“The company's project will provide for disposal of waste oils, mercury lamps. There are also plans to commission the disposal of used batteries,” the SEZ official said.
