Uzbekistan's flour exports more than double

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 13

Uzbekistan reduced imports of wheat flour by 41.6 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 to 154,400 tons, Trend reports citing nuz.uz news agency.

In total, during the reporting period, Uzbekistan imported flour worth $38.5 million, which is 16.7 percent lower than in the same period of 2019.

Almost the entire volume of the wheat flour was purchased from Kazakhstan, which reduced its shipments to Uzbekistan in the reporting period by 42.6 percent to 151,100 tons.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan increased flour production by 20.3 percent to 912,500 tons in the period from January through June 2020.

Following the production boost, Uzbekistan has increased flour export in the first half-year 2020 in physical volume by 2.2 times to 883,200 tons, and by three times in monetary terms - to $228,100, compared to the same period of 2019.
