Azerbaijan reveals seven-month statistics of industrial production

The volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 21.6 billion manat ($12.71 billion) from January through July 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the State Statistical Committee.

Over the specified period, the volume of industrial production dropped by 2.7 percent compared to the same period of 2019. This decline was due to a 4.3-percent decline in production in the oil and gas sector, while production in the non-oil sector rose by 13 percent.

In the mining sector, industrial production made up 61 percent of the total volume, in the processing sector - 32.7 percent, in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam - 5.5 percent, and in the water supply, waste treatment and processing sector - 0.8 percent.

The share of oil in the mining sector decreased by 6.5 percent, while the share of commercial gas increased by 13.3 percent, the committee noted.

In the sphere of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production increased by 11.8 percent, water supply, waste treatment and processing declined by 0.5 percent over the year.

In the processing sector, the production of pharmaceutical products rose 7.8 times, the metallurgical production - 2.1 times, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 92.5 percent, other vehicles - by 57.7 percent, computer, electronic and optical products - by 42.8 percent, woodworking and wood products - 41 percent, paper and cardboard production - 24.9 percent, rubber and plastic products - 19 percent, chemical products - 18.8 percent, clothing - 15.8 percent, production of electrical equipment - by 5.1 percent, textile industry - by 0.4 percent.

The production of finished metal products declined by 0.5 percent, petroleum products - by 0.9 percent, construction materials - by 4.8 percent, foodstuffs - by 1.5 percent, drinks - by 7 percent, the production of leather and leather goods, footwear - by 13.2 percent, furniture production - by 13.8 percent, work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 43.1 percent.
