Trend:

Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade supports 25-percent increase in the prices for home appliances in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said deputy minister of industrial affairs.

"Home appliance prices depend on various factors including production, foreign currency rate and price of polymer and galvanized sheet," said Mehdi Sadeghi Niyaraki, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"The home appliance businesses should register the increased price of their product at ministry's online system, and if the commodity is overpriced the sellers would be confronted," Sadeghi Niyaraki said.

"There is sufficient supply of domestically produced goods at the home appliance market and producers are no longer worried about decrease in demand, the deputy minister added. "The production of home appliances including refrigerators, TVs and washing machines has increased during the first four months of current Iranian year."

"About 95 percent of home appliance producers are small and medium-sized enterprises, and reviving inactive production units is the most important issue in supporting SME projects. The ministry has targeted to activate 1,500 inactive units in industrial cities during current Iranian year, and so far, 468 units have resumed their operations," he said.

"Supplying basic material for production is an important part of ministry agenda on the support of small and medium-sized enterprises. It is also planned to launch steel and petrochemical production cycle," he noted.
