Number of mines put into operation in Iran's Semnan Province  increases

The number of licensed mines for commission in the Semnan Province (northern Iran) during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020) increased by 9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Mohammad Foruhar, deputy chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Semnan Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s official website.

Foruhar noted that the licenses were issued for the commissioning of 12 mines in Semnan Province, during the reporting period.

He added that 56 billion rials (about $1.33 million) has been invested in these mines and about 80 people have been employed.

The deputy chairman stressed that within 4 months, 34 mines were issued certificates of discovery. Thus, more than 22 billion rials (about $523,000) will be invested in these mines and these mines have reserves of 930,000 tons.

"In addition, the licenses have been issued on the discovery of 15 mines in Iran's Semnan Province," he said.

Foruhar emphasized that about 22 million tons of minerals are extracted annually in Semnan Province. These minerals include silicon, gypsum, lime, sodium sulfate, salt, manganese, iron and copper.

According to the deputy director, the licenses have been issued to commissioning of 638 mines in Semnan Province and the reserves of these mines are about 630 million tons.
