Volume of wheat purchased in Iran's Isfahan Province increases

The volume of wheat purchased from farmers in the Isfahan Province has increased by 43 percent since the beginning of current wheat harvesting season in Iran from April 4 to August 17, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Isfahan Province Mohsen Ziyaei said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.

Ziyaei stressed that so far, 115,000 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers.

The director added that the value of the wheat purchased from farmers in the province reached 2.9 trillion rials (about $69 million).

According to the director, 2.5 trillion rials (about $59.5 million) has been paid to the farmers to date.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
