Uzbekistan, Russia sign memorandum on economic cooperation

Russia and Uzbekistan signed Memorandum on trade, economic, and industrial cooperation, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia

Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov signed the memorandum.

"The main purpose of the document is to develop mutually beneficial trade, economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries. The Memorandum provides for assistance in organizing meetings and negotiations between representatives of business circles of the two countries, in creating joint production facilities, in creating favorable conditions for the implementation of bilateral investment projects in industry and trade," the message said.

According to Denis Manturov a special working group - project office - will be set up to implement the Memorandum, which may involve representatives of Russian and Uzbek industry organizations.

The day before, Denis Manturov and Sardor Umurzakov held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed the current state and a number of priority directions of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The parties noted that in the first half of 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation showed positive results.

Thus, for the period from January to June 2020, trade turnover increased by almost 18 percent, while the volume of Russian exports to Uzbekistan increased by 24.5 percent.
