Azerbaijan reveals exports by legal entities, individuals in 1H2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 20

The volume of export by legal entities and individuals from Azerbaijan amounted to $6.8 billion from January through June 2020, having decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.

“The bulk of the export, that is 32 percent, falls on Italy. Turkey ranks second with the export share of 19.2 percent,” the report said.

“These countres are followed by Russia with the share of 5 percent, Israel – 4.2 percent, India – 3.7 percent, China, Greece and Croatia – 3.2 percent each, Georgia – 3.1 percent, Ukraine 3 percent, Czech - 2.1 percent, Tunis – 1.9 percent, Vietnam, Spain and Portugal - 1.7 percent each, Germany – 1.5 percent, Austria – 1.3 percent, Switzerland - 1.2 percent, and other countries - 7.1 percent,” the report noted.

In total, Azerbaijani legal entities and individuals made exports to 100 countries during the reporting period.

At the same time, export of non-oil products dropped by 6.9 percent over the year, while in real terms it decreased by 14 percent, making up $911.9 million.

The bulk of Azerbaijan’s non-oil export (40.6 percent) accounted for Russia, followed by Turkey – 19.4 percent, Switzerland – 10.5 percent, Georgia – 8.4 percent, China – 3.1 percent, Ukraine – 2.4 percent, and Italy and other countries - 2.1 percent each.

As reported, in the first half of this year, 86.6 percent of products were exported via pipelines and power lines, 8.1 percent - by road, 3 percent - by rail, 1.6 percent - by air, 0.7 percent - by sea.

"Over the year, the export of fresh vegetables increased by 4.3 percent, fruit and vegetable juices - by 3.8 percent, ferrous metal products - by 1.8 percent, bentonite clay - by 5.2 percent, margarine and other food additives - by 52.1 percent, polyethylene - by 39.8 percent. Exports of tea grew by 0.5 percent, potatoes - by 32 percent, vegetable oils, as well as pipes made of ferrous metals - 1.8 times," said the report.

Exports of fresh fruit decreased by 24.5 percent, canned fruits and vegetables - by 0.8 percent, cotton fiber - by 18.4 percent, cotton yarn - by 22 percent, tobacco and sugar - by 25.9 percent, unprocessed aluminum - by 5.8 percent, natural grape wines and grape must - by 52.2 percent.
