Share of Russia in Azerbaijan's total import grows

Russia’s share in the total import of Azerbaijan over the first seven months of 2020 grew from 14.14 to 18.36 percent, Trend reports on August 22 referring to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, in the reporting period, foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to $1.5 billion, which is 6.6 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan exported products worth $430.7 million to Russia, which is 1.7 percent more than from January through July 2019 ($423.2 million). Russia’s share in Azerbaijan’s total export increased from 3.45 to 4.72 percent.

At the same time, import of products from Russia to Azerbaijan dropped by almost 9.2 percent year-on-year to $1 billion.

Thus, the foreign trade balance of the two countries for the reporting period shifted to negative and made up $652.3 million.

In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through July 2020 amounted to $9.1 billion.
