Iran to boost copper concentrate production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22

Iran's copper concentrate production capacity will increase by 130,000 tons with the commissioning of the Dar Alou copper plant in Kerman Province (southeastern Iran), Managing Director of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) Ardashir Sad Mohammadi said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Sad Mohammadi noted that the plant is being built within a large project related to the Dar Alou copper mine.

He added that according to the plan, 7 million tons of copper stones will be extracted annually from the Dar Alou copper mine.

The director emphasized that the plant and related facilities are scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of next Iranian year (starting from September 22, 2021).

Sad Mohammadi said that so far, 8.8 trillion rials (about $209 million) and 63 million euros have been invested in the Dar Alou project.

The Dar Alou mine and plant are located 61 km south of the Kerman county of Iran's Kerman Province.

It is reported that the plant will produce 130,000 tons of 22 carat copper concentrate a year.
