The total volume of Uzbekistan’s car imports was $11.2 billion in the period from January through July 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
Compared to the same period of 2019, car imports decreased by 17.7 percent.
The main share of imports, 38.1 percent or $4.2 billion, is made up of cars and transport equipment.
In particular, almost $1.1 billion worth of imports were cars, specifically designed for various industries, $539 million for car parts, and $312 million for passenger cars.
Moreover, Uzbekistan imported non-special vehicles, parts, and equipment for industry in the amount of $909 million and electric vehicles for $365 million.
Uzbek enterprises produced 168,710 passenger cars in the period from January through July 2020.
Starting from August 1, 2020 excise tax rates for import of foreign cars were abolished. Before, the excise tax rate was 30 percent.
