Turkish construction companies carry out significant infrastructure projects in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27

Turkish construction and technical consultancy companies carry out some significant infrastructure projects in Georgia, including Batumi bypass road construction, Turkish Embassy in Georgia told Trend.

"Some Turkish companies already have invested in different cities of Georgia, expanding their production capacity with additional production facilities," the embassy noted.

Another important field that should be mentioned is energy, the embassy said.

According to the embassy, several power plants based on renewable energy sources such as hydro-power and wind-power are constructed and operated by Turkish companies in Georgia.

"Namakhvani hydro-power plant, for example, has a significant importance for energy production of Georgia with its planned capacity of 433 MW," the embassy noted.

Meanwhile, from January through July 2020, total imports from Turkey to Georgia amounted to $728.6 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $114.6 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in the reporting period exceeded $843.2 million, which is 14 percent of Georgia's total trade turnover.
