The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 19.8 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 22-August 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 10 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded during the reporting month.

As many as 5.93 million tons of goods were loaded and 4.08 million tons were unloaded via Iranian ports in the 5th month of current Iranian year, the statistics said.

Over the fifth month, 4.71 million tons of goods were exported and 1.98 million tons were imported.

“More than 132,000 tons of goods were loaded and 238,000 tons were unloaded for transit in Iranian ports durin the same period, the statistics added.

According to the report, about 1 million tons of goods were loaded and 1.75 million tons were unloaded for cabotage at Iranian ports within fifth month.

"About 14,700 tons of goods were loaded and 32,400 tons were unloaded for transshipment in Iranian ports," the statistics said.

In addition, 76,300 tons of goods were loaded and 70,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes.

“During this period, 1.43 million tons of essential products, 718,000 tons of metal products, 1.55 million tons of construction materials and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports,” the statistics noted.

About 27,900 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts, 365,000 tons of chemicals were also loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports.

According to the report, over the 5-th month, 88,200 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, wood and other similar products, 449,000 tons of other goods, 1.18 million tons of container products and 4.18 million tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports.
