Importing companies that received foreign currency to import basic goods should not delay the process of releasing goods from customs, said Iran's First Vice President, Eshaq Jahangiri.
"Providing medicine and necessary goods are important issues in current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) alongside people's wellbeing and all organizations should pay serious attention to it," said Jahangiri, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"It's not fair that the process of releasing necessary goods would be delayed by bureaucracy. Ministries have assigned foreign currency with official rate to importing companies therefore the actions of these companies should be monitored daily and they should be held responsible if they delay the release of goods," he said during a meeting with cabinet members.
"Supplying tire for country's transportation fleet is important since they transfer goods to people and it is necessary that the Ministry of Road and Urban Development and Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade would make the necessary plans to solve the issue of tire supply," he said.
"The Central Bank of Iran should assign a foreign currency to import seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides that are priority of the agriculture sector," he added.
The official also has requested the Health Ministry to prepare for medical production and provide medicine and flu vaccine to people.
During the meeting the acting minister of Industry, Mine and Trade has provided his report on the assignment of foreign currency to import basic goods including wheat, crude vegetable oil, sugar, and rice.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran has also submitted his report on assigning foreign currency to imports of medicine, the raw materials for production, and essential goods.
Health Minister has indicated that the ministry is trying to solve any problem concerning medical and medical equipment shortage for autumn and winter.
