Meat prices increase in Kazakhstan compared to 2019 year-end

Prices of food products increased by 7.3 percent in Kazakhstan in Aug. 2020 compared to Dec. 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the prices of non-food items increased by 3.4 percent, whereas prices of paid services increased by 2 percent.

Thus, prices of cereals increased by 21 percent, potatoes by 21 percent, for fruits by 18.4 percent, lamb by 12.9 percent, granulated sugar by 12.3 percent, flour by 12.1 percent. Prices of pasta increased by 10.7 percent, butter by 9.9 percent, hard curd cheese by 9.3 percent, horse meat by 9.1 percent, beef by 8.1 percent, tea by 7.8 percent, frozen fish by 7.3 percent, sausages, pork by 6.6 percent each.

Prices of bakery and flour products increased by 5.8 percent, pasteurized milk by 5.2 percent, bread by 4.5 percent, cottage cheese by 3.4 percent.

Tobacco products rose in price by 10.8 percent, mineral and drinking water by 8.9 percent, soft drinks by 6.5 percent, alcoholic beverages by 6 percent. Decrease of prices for eggs was 6.1 percent, fresh vegetables 4.6 percent, millet 2.4 percent, rice 2 percent.

The increase in prices for medicines was 7.5 percent, detergents and cleaning products 7.1 percent, household appliances – 5 percent, construction materials - 4.9 percent, cars - 4.7 percent, laptops - 3.3 percent.

Gasoline increased in price by 2.6 percent, whereas diesel fuel fell in price by 3.2 percent.
