Sown areas of wheat and barley increase in Georgia

In 1H2020, 208,800 hectares of land were processed in Georgia, which is 5,600 hectares more than last year, Trend reports citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the Geostat, the sown area of ​​wheat and barley in the first half of 2020 increased by 5,100 hectares compared to 2019 and reached 58,900 hectares.

The total acreage for maize increased by 6,200 hectares in comparison with last year - up to 80,900 hectares.

The total area of ​​land on which potatoes and vegetables are planted also increased by 700 hectares and reached 32,800 hectares.

This year, compared to 2017, the sown area decreased by 11,500 hectares.
