Volume of wheat purchased in Iran's Kurdistan Province expands

The volume of wheat purchased from farmers in the Kurdistan Province (western Iran) from June 21 to September 2, 2020 increased by 4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Jamal Salehi, the director general of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Kurdistan Province, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.

The director general noted that so far, more than 743,400 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in the province and the process will continue until the end of this month (September 21).

The director general stressed that about 73 percent of the value purchased wheat and all of the money for purchased wheat was paid to farmers so far.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

Several products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
