Wheat farmers in Iran's Hamadan Province get paid

More than 1.15 trillion rials (about $27.3 million) was paid to wheat farmers in the Hamadan Province (western Iran) on September 6, Masoud Bokaee, Director General of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Hamadan Province, Trend reports citing the corporation’s portal.

Bokaee stressed that including the mentioned payment, amount of funds paid to farmers so far have has reached 10.3 trillion rials (about $246 million).

He added that 93 percent of the value of purchased wheat has been paid to farmers since the beginning of the current wheat harvesting season in Iran (April 4).

The director general noted that so far, more than 435,000 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers.

The price of ordinary wheat purchased from farmers in the current planting year was set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

Certain products in Iran, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee.
