BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 7
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
As of September 7, the Georgian Kakheti region has already processed about 9,000 tonnes of various grapes within the Vintage 2020, Trend reports via the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
One hundred sixty-four wine producers are registered in the special grape vintage coordination center, while 36 enterprises were already involved in the grape processing.
The government of Georgia will subsidize the grape varieties of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane in 2020 to support farmers and help them sell their produce. The price of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane will not be less than 80 tetris ($0.26).
The volume of grapes processed during the 2019 harvest in Georgia reached 271,000 tons, which was the highest harvest volume over the last 30 years, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.
Traditionally, the wine harvest begins in September in Georgia’s winemaking regions of Kakheti, Imereti, and Racha.
