Russia intends to start exporting agrifoods to Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 8

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Russian SITNO company, engaged in the agriculture production plans to start exporting to Azerbaijan by the end of 2020, Deputy Director-General of the company Timur Mironov told Trend.

“We produce all food products according to a closed technological cycle system. Our products are necessary for healthy human life - flour, pasta, bakery and confectionery products, eggs and poultry meat, semi-finished products and delicacies from meat, and dairy products,” said Mironov.

“The company is just beginning to work with Azerbaijan. At this stage, we’re carefully analyzing the market, studying distributors. Now we are actively negotiating with them. I can say that we have big ambitions and plans for supplies to Azerbaijan. The volume of exports depends on many socio-economic factors. In any case, speaking about the first deliveries, initially, we are talking about the so-called test volumes, which will help to probe the market live, to understand its specifics, consumers, and demand. I think that at the initial stage, Azerbaijani consumers will be interested in ‘Halal’ products, as well as flour, pasta, and confectionery,” SITNO’s representative said.

“First of all, SITNO plans to export flour-grinding products, pasta, and flour confectionery goods,” said the deputy director-general.

“We will further work to expand the range and offer poultry and dairy products. In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has made significant adjustments to the export activities of companies and manufacturers around the world. Not all export plans outlined for this year have been implemented, but we plan to make up for them by the end of 2020, including through productive cooperation with Azerbaijan,” Mironov added.

About 60 enterprises engaged in the agriculture and processing industry are united under the SITNO brand.

SITNO’s enterprises employ over 7,000 people.
