Amount of VAT from customs in Azerbaijan drops

The amount of VAT from customs in the Azerbaijani state budget decreased by 4.2 percent from January through August 2020 compared to the period from January through August 2019 and reached 1.9 billion manats ($1.1 billion), Trend reports on Sept. 10 referring to the Committee.

The volume of customs duties transferred to the Azerbaijani state budget on an annualized basis decreased by 7.1 percent from January through August 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 647.7 million manats ($381 million).

Following the data, 2.6 billion manats ($1.5 billion) were transferred to the Azerbaijani state budget through the State Customs Committee from January through August 2020, which was 8.7 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

The number of receipts on excise taxes decreased by 2.05 times to 89.9 million manats ($52.9 million) and on-road tax - by 7.8 percent up to 21.9 million manats ($12.9 million).

The goals of the State Customs Committee are to protect the Azerbaijani sovereignty, economic and national security, as well as improve the social well-being of people, promote the international trade, ensure the collection of customs payments and transfer them to the state budget, as well as prevent the fraud in the field of customs.
