Switzerland, Uzbekistan purchase base oil in Turkmenistan

Entrepreneurs from Switzerland, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) bough gasoline, low-sulfur heating oil and base oil produced at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries in foreign currency during an auction at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

Businessmen from Uzbekistan also purchased high-density polyethylene in foreign currency.

In addition, entrepreneurs from Russia, the US, the UAE, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan bought smooth-colored and jacquard terry products, cotton fabric and yarn in foreign currency.

The total amount of transactions in foreign currency exceeded $26.8 million.

Transactions in Turkmen manat were also made on the exchange. Thus, entrepreneurs of the UAE, Pakistan, Kazakhstan purchased cotton yarn and worth 3.8 million manat (over $1 million).

In general, 27 transactions were registered on the exchange over the past week.

The state commodity exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
