British investors show great interest in energy and transport sectors of Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.14

British investors showed great interest in the energy and transport sectors of Georgia, as well as in various infrastructure and high-tech projects, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava, Trend reports via Georgian media.

She made the remark after meeting with Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, Mark Clayton.

"We agreed that we will cooperate within the framework of our new proactive investment policy to attract more British investors to Georgia,” Turnava noted.

At the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of trade and investment.

It was noted that Great Britain is an important strategic, political and economic partner of Georgia.

“Today, despite COVID-19 and the global economic crisis, foreign direct investment from the UK increased in the second quarter. It is also important that the UK is the leader in terms of foreign direct investment. In particular, in 2020, 32 percent of the total foreign direct investment in Georgia came from the UK,” the minister said.
