Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region has planned to collect 112 tons of rice from 26 hectares of land, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.
More than 144 tons of rice were harvested in the same area last year, instead of the planned 87 tons, which exceeded the plan by 65 percent.
Due to the soil and climate conditions of Dashoguz region, rice farming is one of the main branches of agriculture in this region. In particular, such rice varieties as Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga are mainly grown in this region, which have proven themselves well in the soil and climatic conditions of this region.
Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.
The development of agriculture in the country is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.
Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
