Kazakhstan’s revenue from railway cargo transportation increases

Kazakhstan’s revenue from transportation of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 598.3 billion tenge ($1.4 billion) over eight months of 2020, which is 6.6 percent more than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Revenue from transportation of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage via railway in Aug. 2020 amounted to 80.02 billion tenge ($187.7 million), which is 3.7 percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2019.

The volume of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 30.5 million tons, climbing 1.4 percent compared to the same period of last year (35.1 million tons in Aug. 2020, down by 2.3 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 194.07 billion ton-kilometers rising by 4.4 percent in comparison to last year (25.3 billion in Aug. 2020, increase of 4.5 percent).

In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 30.5 billion tenge ($71.7 million) over eight months of 2020, which is 57.9 percent slump in comparison to last year. August’s revenue from passenger transportation was 3.3 billion tenge ($7.8 million), which is 70.9 percent less than in Aug. 2019.

Number of transported passengers amounted to 7.4 million people, which is 49.6 percent decline compared to the same period of last year (828,900 passengers in Aug. 2020, down by 60.9 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 5.6 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease by 53 percent. August’s passenger turnover was 709.1 million pkm (60.3 percent decrease year-on-year).
