Azerbaijan grows production of building gypsum

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 16

Building materials worth 497.3 million manats ($292.5 million) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through August 2020, which is 1.8 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee’s report.

From January through August 2020, the production volume of building gypsum amounted to 13,000 tons, building bricks – to 339,000 cubic meters, indicating an annual increase of 26.3 percent, and the production volume of ready-mixed concrete increased by 9.6 percent and surpassed 1.2 million tons.

The volume of production of processed marble, travertine, and alabaster, and their products made up 16,340 tons, decreasing by 35.6 percent year on year, prefabricated concrete structures – 22,000 cubic meters, a decrease of 24.7 percent.

At the same, the production of asphalt dropped 2 times, amounting to 111,200 tons. Cement production also halved and stood at 29,100 tons.

Moreover, the production volume of building blocks and bricks made of cement, artificial stone, or concrete fell by 33.8 percent, making up 20,800 tons.
