Azerbaijan's consumer market shrinks

The cost of the sale of products and provided services to meet consumer’s demand in Azerbaijan from January through August 2020 amounted to 29.4 billion manats ($17.2 billion), which is 7.5 percent less than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, in the past 8 months of this year, the cost of products sold and services rendered by private entities made up 28.3 billion manats ($16.6 billion), declining by 7.1 percent compared to the same period of last year. Some 48.6 percent of the cost was formed due to the activities of individuals.

The cost of products sold by public entities was equal to 1.05 billion manats ($620 million).

Over the reporting period, the average monthly expense of each consumer was estimated at 368.7 manats ($216.8), which is 21.1 manats ($12.4) less in nominal terms compared to the same period of 2019.
