Iran’s exports via Gilan Province grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16

The goods worth $263 million have been exported through the Gilan Province (northern Iran) from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date (September 16), said Abolghasem Yousefinejad, supervisor of Gilan Customs Office, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to Yousefinejad, this is about 45 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year.

The official added that 446,000 tons of goods were exported through the customs of Iran's Gilan Province during the reporting period.

"The exported goods were mainly fruits, vegetables and construction materials and were mainly exported to Russia," he said.

Yousefinejad noted that during the same period, 726,000 tons of goods worth about $359 million were also imported through the customs of Gilan Province.

The official stressed that the imports increased by 4 percent in terms of value and 54 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Yousefinejad said that the goods were mainly imported through Astara border checkpoint, Anzali Free Trade Zone and Anzali port.
