The Head of the Iranian Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association said the production of some imported car parts for Iranian vehicles has started and will reach up to 90 percent capacity soon.

“The US sanctions have caused car part manufacturers to produce 3,000 types of car parts, including metal parts and swift springs, which were used to be imported from abroad,” Head of the Iranian Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association, Mohammad Reza Najafi Manesh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He went on to say that the major manufacturers of auto spare parts are located in Tehran province and benefit from the latest technology so they offer a quality product to the market.

“At present, $3-3.5 billion worth of auto parts are imported,” he said. “The localization of some auto parts prevents one to two billion dollars of foreign currency outflow.”

“The standard parts and equipment required by the two major automakers of the country (IKCO and Saipa) have been imported during the last three months and have been stored in customs warehouses,” he announced.

Najafi Manesh announced that more than 100,000 defective vehicles have been stuck in Iran Khodro and Saipa parking lots. “It is estimated that with the clearance of these auto parts from Customs, between 50,000 and 60,000 vehicles will reach customers.”

“The main part of the deficit of car manufacturers is electronic parts which are not made in Iran. These electronic parts have currently being cleared from Customs,” he added
