Georgia to start producing anti-hail nets for orchards

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.25

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Agrobade LTD has started construction of the first plant in Georgia for the production of anti-hail and sun protection nets in the Karelian region (Eastern Georgia), Trend reports via the EastFruit portal.

According to the founder of the company Avtandil Maisuradze, the launch of the plant is planned in January 2021. According to him, the corresponding equipment will come from Germany, and the building is already under construction. Despite the fact that the pandemic has created certain problems for the company, according to Maisuradze, nothing should prevent the opening of the plant.

The idea of building a plant for the production of anti-hail and sun protection nets came about after a market study. Maisuradze also represents AntGeo, which is engaged in the installation of protective nets and installation of irrigation systems in intensive gardens. The company studied not only the needs of the Georgian market but also of the entire region, which in the future will help it meet the demand for products in neighboring countries.

“We ourselves imported protective nets and installed them in local fruit and berry orchards. Accordingly, we have studied the local market well, and we know that interest and demand for these products are high, since there are already many intensive fruit and berry orchards in Georgia. At the same time, we are counting not only on the local market but also on the entire region. We think our products will be competitive and will be in demand in neighboring countries. Our diverse assortment will include not only anti-hail but also construction nets,” he said.

The investment cost of the project, which is supported by the USAID Agricultural Innovation Program, is $500,000.
