The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy held a meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijan Insurers Association (AIA), Trend reports referring to CAERC.
According to the center, at the meeting dedicated to the development of cooperation between the two structures, the First Deputy Executive Director of CAERC, Ramil Huseyn informed the guests about the activities and ongoing projects of the center.
Huseyn noted that the center monitors and evaluates strategic roadmaps and government programs for economic development.
As he also noted, Azexport and Enterprise Azerbaijan portals, as well as Digital Trade Hub and ‘One Window’ Export Support Center, operated by CAERC, have much contributed to realize the export potential and digitalize the non-oil sector in the country.
The deputy executive director added that the development of the insurance market is one of the priorities in the Strategic Roadmap for the Development of Financial Services, approved by the Azerbaijani president’s decree dated December 6, 2016.
It was also stressed that during its activity the center has tried to contribute to the development of the insurance market, especially, agricultural insurance and mandatory health insurance in Azerbaijan, and for this reason, it’s important to deepen cooperation between CAERC and AIA.
Chairman of the Association’s Supervisory Board, Azer Aliyev, who also attended the meeting, emphasized that state support is felt in the work carried out in the insurance sector.
He noted that a lot of work has been done recently in Azerbaijan to adapt the steps taken in this area to the international standards.
Among the steps, the correct implementation of propaganda and education, as well as the formation of a database are two important directions. The proposal of the AIA management to place insurance services on the Azexport portal was positively assessed by CAERC.
Following the discussion, an agreement was reached to prepare an action plan and set up an expert group to continue cooperation between CAERC and AIA.
